Cultural Day - UISG Formators Programme
15/05/2026
This year, two Ursulines from the Roman Union and one Ursuline from Tildonk took part in the training course for formators organised by the UISG (International Union of Superiors General) in Rome, conducted in English.
On 30 April 2026, they organised a cultural day and invited members of their congregation. Five of us Ursulines joined them: Sr Mangla Minj (Ursuline of Tildonk), Sr Elisabeth-Marie Ansart, Sr Florence-Marie Le Garrec, Sr Angela Poggi and Sr Elisabeth Binet (Ursulines of the Roman Union).
The theme for the year was ‘Celebrating the sacredness of our diversity’.
The day began with a warm welcome from the trainers, dressed in their traditional attire. We were then invited to celebrate the Eucharist.
The multicultural nature of the group was evident in the entrance procession, which included many participants from Africa, India, Asia and Europe. It was a simple yet richly symbolic celebration, featuring, among other things, adoration with incense and flowers offered by by Indian sisters following the doxology.
After a short break, we took part in a cultural presentation featuring songs, dances and quizzes from most continents. It was a moment that truly reflected the diversity of the gathering.
Such a day of celebration could not end without a festive meal prepared by the future formators, featuring a wide variety of flavours from Africa, Asia, Europe... It was hard to choose; you would have loved to try everything, but that wasn’t possible!
Thank you to the UISG, the trainers and our sisters for inviting us to this day, which also gave us the chance to celebrate St Mary of the Incarnation together, in a spirit of joy. We are sure that St Mary of the Incarnation would have seen this day as a wonderful opportunity to ‘travel the world in spirit’.
