Serving Life Across Borders: From Taiwan to Cambodia
15/10/2026
This summer, the International Service Team of Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages traveled to Mother of Peace Primary School in Battambang, Cambodia, with Sr. Margaret Chen accompanying Wenzao faculty and students on this mission of service. This connection between Taiwan and Cambodia continues to carry forward the Ursuline spirit of “serving life” across cultures and borders.
Drawing on their strengths in language education and intercultural exchange, the team prepared a variety of activities for the children, including Chinese language lessons, science experiments, picture-book reading, and creative arts and crafts. One of the most memorable moments came when the children launched their water rockets. The campus was filled with cheers, laughter, and excitement.
During their stay, the faculty and students also visited the homes of several pupils, gaining a deeper understanding of the children’s daily lives and learning environments. Through these encounters, the students came to realize that service is not simply about giving. It is also about learning from one another, building friendships, and growing together.
This year’s international service experience was especially meaningful as Wenzao celebrates its 60th anniversary. From Taiwan to Cambodia, and from the Ursuline Sisters to young students, the Ursuline educational mission continues to take root in a new generation. Through each sincere encounter, we live out the spirit of SERVIAM, “I will serve”, allowing the spirit of St. Angela to cross borders, take root, and continue to grow in different lands.
