“Roots and shoots” - Ursulines of the Roman Union England

Newly published book about the English Province

Although the Ursulines first came to England in 1851, it is only since 1923 that several English communities joined the Roman Union which was founded in 1900 at the request of the Pope, Leo 13th.

We invite you to share our record of these past 100 years through our book “ROOTS AND SHOOTS” - Ursulines of the Roman Union England.

We hope it will give you some insight to our life in England and the role of catholic education in the past 100 years.

This is a coffee table style production rather than a precise history. We decided to address the hundred years from the viewpoint of those sisters who are alive today. Each one has made a personal contribution which builds up the story of our most recent past.

We have looked back to our roots and some of the decisive factors that have shaped us historically and religiously. We look to the future and our legacy.
