Polish Province Extraordinary Chapter
10/11/2023
If, according to times and circumstances, the need arises to do something differently,
do it prudently and with good advice.
And always let your principal recourse be to gather at the feet of Jesus Christ.
(St Angela Merici, Last Legacy 2)
In the Polish Province of the Ursulines of the Roman Union the Chapter was held on 6-7 October 2023 in Czestochowa. Due to its extraordinary nature and the specific task in hand, it did not last long. However, it was planned in such a way that the sisters who took part in it had many opportunities to meet each other. They were accompanied by much joy, sharing of daily life and experiences of God, and exchange of ideas.
The Chapter was attended by sisters from many communities in Poland, as well as by representatives of communities from Ukraine and the Netherlands. The richness and diversity of these meetings was therefore overwhelming. Sisters from Ukraine and the Netherlands shared the situation of our communities in those countries.
Questions were also asked about the war going on in Ukraine and the possibility of starting a ministry among the Polish community, especially among the homeless in the Netherlands. Many of the issues that were raised and which the sisters carried in their hearts were also committed to the Black Madonna - Our Lady of Czestochowa, to whom the sisters had recourse frequently during these two days.
We ask God to keep our hearts and minds open so that we may embrace the new Constitutions with courage and confidence and "persevere faithfully and joyfully in the work we have begun " (St Angela, Last Legacy 22).
