Golden Jubilee of religious profession of Sr Brigitte Brunet

There is no other refuge than Jesus Christ, He is our treasure, our light,
In him alone was the power to love all who came into your life.
Find your strength in the Lord, live united in him,
Angela, we give praise to our God, for all he has given through you.

(Fragment of the Hymn in honour of St Angela, Words : Anne Jackson, Music: Mary Driscoll OSU)

This year, Sr Brigitte Brunet, an Ursuline from France, who is now a member of the international Generalate Community in Rome, is celebrating her jubilee of 50 years of religious profession. We therefore had the joy of participating in a celebration in gratitude for her golden jubilee on 4 May 2024.

The celebration began with the Eucharist, concelebrated by our neighbours - Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and Fr Benoît Malvaux SJ. All our communities from the Generalate were present - the General Council, the house community, the sisters from the Italian community and also from Setteville, the novitiate, the student sisters and some guests.

Sr. Brigitte suggested using the readings of the day and chose as decoration in the chapel the icon “Saint Angela, fruitful olive tree in the house of God” by Paolo Orlando, and flowers offered by her family and symbolising the paschal character of our lives.

Our celebration continued with a festive lunch followed by joyful presentations from sisters from different countries and communities. Thanks to the richness of our internationality, there were dances from India and Brazil, singing from Poland and Italy, a presentation from Kenya and a flute concert performed by the sisters of the Novitiate, accompanied by Sr Elisabeth-Marie from France. At the end, Sr Brigitte had to answer a few difficult questions - there was a quiz on the images of St Angela popular in our Institute.

We thank Sr Brigitte for her witness of life and fidelity to the journey of her vocation that brought her to Rome this year. She wrote in her thank you letter: “I ask for the grace of an unreserved «yes», without boundaries and without limits, simply given with the Virgin Mary, Saint Angela and Saint Mary of the Incarnation, a «yes» immersed in the Amen of Christ in each Eucharist and in each of my brothers and sisters.” We ask this for Sr Brigitte and for each one of us.
