10 years of the Ursuline primary school in Varaždin

This year, we Sisters from the Croatian province celebrate the 10th anniversary of the reopening of the primary school - The Catholic primary school Saint Ursula in Varaždin.

The first sisters came to Varaždin from Bratislava in 1703 as teachers. They immediately started teaching children and opened many schools: kindergarten, primary school, gymnasium, a school for teachers and various courses for women.

After the Second World War in 1946, the communists took our building and sent our students elsewhere. There were about 1200 students.

In 2006, we got back the building, which was in rather bad condition. We renovated it and opened a Kindergarten in 2009. At the parents' request that their children continue education in the spirit of St. Angela, in 2014. we decided to reopen the primary school.

Now we have two classes for each level. Four Ursuline sisters work in the school with lay teachers.  In anticipation of the 10th anniversary, they made a music video. In the video, they sing together with the school choir:

You will always find a home here,
a heart that beats for you,
a hand to follow you,
a mother to understand you,
you will know everything you need to know.

Join the spirit of this celebration!
