The Feast of St Ursula

On 21 October we celebrate the Feast of St Ursula and her Companions in communities and in many of our ministries. Together, let us ask St Ursula to strengthen our convictions and to face the challenging realities of our lives with courage.

Legend tells us that Ursula and her companions died in a battle with forces that overwhelmed their physical strength. Perhaps this year, on their feast day, we can be united in a special way across our provinces, groups and communities, in prayer for peace and a limitation of violence in our world. Let us particularly pray on 21st October for those who are victims of violence in the many war-torn parts of the world, especially in Gaza and other parts of Palestine, in Lebanon, and right across the Middle East, in Ukraine, and so many parts of northern Africa. Let us pray earnestly for peace.

Sr. Mary Alice Duggan, of the USA Ursulines’ “Heart to Heart” team, has prepared a prayer service for this year's feast of St. Ursula, which we celebrate on October 21. We hope that you will find it helpful for your own personal prayer or for gatherings with others to celebrate the feast.
