Provincial Conference in Taiwan — Encountering in Communion
30/10/2025
The annual Provincial Conference was held in the Kaohsiung community during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
This year’s theme, “Communion,” invited the sisters to experience faith and fellowship through liturgy, sharing, and joyful gathering.
Day One: Discovering One Another, Sharing Horizons
The conference opened with a lively bingo game that highlighted the sisters’ unique gifts and charisms.
A card-sharing activity followed, deepening mutual understanding and personal expression.
Several sisters shared accounts their journeys abroad: Sr. Therese Chen, Sr. Alphonsa Hsu and Sr. Elizabeth Lin attending the Asia-Pacific Ursuline meeting in Australia, Sr. Paschal Ting walking the Camino in Spain and Portugal, Sr. Cecilia Wang visiting communities in Ireland and retracing St. Paul’s first missionary journey, and Sr. Yamei making a pilgrimage to Nagasaki, Japan. These rich experiences broadened perspectives and offered fresh insights into faith across cultures. In the evening, all gathered for Sunday Mass, entrusting the day’s encounters to God.

Day Two: Renewed by the Holy Spirit, Communion under the Moonlight
On the second day, Fr. Peter Krakowczyk, SCJ (Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus), was invited to give a talk on the Holy Spirit. Through reflection and sharing, the sisters were encouraged, renewed by the Spirit, to see themselves and the world with fresh vision. In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone enjoyed a traditional Taiwanese barbecue under the moonlight, joined by professors from Wenzao. The laughter and light created an atmosphere of communion and joy within the faith family.

Day Three: Translation Ministry, Living Poverty with Simplicity
The final day began with Sr. Jing-Yi Chen sharing her recent translation work, offering insights into how this ministry serves as a channel for transmitting faith. Afterwards, the provincial accounts were reviewed together. In the spirit of the vow of poverty, the sisters reflected on trusting in God’s providence and embracing the mindset of “having enough without lacking.”
Though brief, the three days were filled with grace and joy. Gratitude is extended to all the sisters who joined from near and far. The conference leaves a lasting mark of communion, and all look forward to gathering again next year to continue walking together in faith and unity.
