165 years of the Ursuline Sisters in Indonesia

Seven Ursulines Sisters from Sittard (The Netherlands) arrived in Batavia (nowadays Jakarta) on 7 February 1856.
Mgr. P. M. Vranken as Apostolic Vicar of Batavia invited the Ursuline sisters to come to Batavia because of his concern about the existing poor education of girls and women.

The mission, begun by seven sisters who had courage to cross the oceans, has flourished until now. May Ursuline Sisters continue to bring Good News to the people with the same courage as the first missionaries.  7 February, 2021 - is 165 years since the arrival of the seven sisters!
