Meeting of the Sisters of the Slovak Province

From October 30 to November 1, 2025, sisters from the entire Slovak Province gathered in Bratislava for their annual provincial conference. This special meeting was a time of spiritual renewal, encouragement, and sharing. It concluded with a pilgrimage to Marianka, which gave the gathering a beautiful spiritual ending.

Prof. PhDr. ThDr. Peter Zubko opened the conference by introducing us to the richness of our spirituality. Through a historical overview, he helped us rediscover the beauty and depth of our spiritual heritage.

Sr. Mária Rita, the provincial superior, led the formation sessions in the spirit of responsible closeness. She shared valuable insights and experiences from her own formation and invited us to deepen our relationships within the community.

On Friday morning, biblical scholar ThDr. Mgr. Lucia Hidvéghyová, PhD., offered an inspiring reflection on the Sabbath in the light of God’s Word. She reminded us that rest is not a luxury, but an important part of God’s plan for every person.

Sr. Ruth spoke on the theme of Laudato Si’, explaining in a clear and accessible way why caring for creation is essential—not only in Slovakia, but throughout the whole world.

The year 2025 is especially meaningful for the Ursulines of the Roman Union, as it marks the 125th anniversary of its founding. During the conference, we celebrated this important jubilee together with a Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by a joyful agape with games and shared time.

We concluded the conference with a pilgrimage to Marianka, a jubilee church. There, we thanked the Virgin Mary for the gift of our province and asked for the grace to live with open hearts, ready to accept God’s will—just as she did.
